The common thread running between all of our brands is the independent dealer, i.e., independently owned paint stores; hardware stores and building supply centers. Progress operates no company owned stores or allows sales of these brands to big box chains or large discount stores. Since its founding in 1912, Progress has maintained that well-trained and knowledgeable retailers, Ones who can determine application needs and recommend specific products on a one-on-one basis with the customer, best serve the end-paint user. No one is better at this than the independent paint dealer, who depends on their own competence and the quality of what they sell to generate business.
The history and growth of Progress Paint Company is a story of unsurpassed product quality driven by innovation. Our mission is twofold, to make the very best quality paint and to provide unsurpassed value. Fear that someone else might do this better has created a culture of paint purest with a passion for not being second best in quality to any other brand. 1950 – Early adopter of modern latex technology

Progress operates a 150,000 square foot factory in the heart of downtown Louisville, KY; its Bluegrass Distribution Center in suburban Louisville and a satellite warehouse, Marine Paint & Varnish, in New Orleans, LA
Progress Paint Manufacturing Company has been privately owned since its inception, and employee owned (ESOP) since 1986.
